Because a great teacher is always a student.
At Everybody Pilates, we believe learning never stops. Pilates is a living system, and the best teachers continue to deepen their understanding long after their initial qualifications. That’s why Amy Kellow, co-founder of Everybody Pilates, is currently studying with Biomechanics Education—and why she’s proud to be an ambassador for their programme.
Teaching with curiosity, not complacency
Amy has spent her career grounded in Classical Pilates, lineage, and the original system. But for her, mastery doesn’t mean standing still. Studying biomechanics is about asking better questions: Why does this movement feel different in this body? What’s really happening at the joint? How can I cue more clearly, more safely, more effectively?
Biomechanics has offered Amy a deeper lens—one that complements Classical Pilates rather than competes with it. Understanding force, load, range, and adaptation helps her refine how she teaches, how she progresses clients, and how she supports bodies that don’t always follow the textbook.
What Amy is gaining from the course
So far, the course has strengthened Amy’s ability to:
- Analyse movement with greater clarity
- Communicate complex ideas in simple, practical ways
- Make thoughtful decisions around regressions and progressions
- Support long-term, sustainable practice for real bodies
In short, it’s helping her become an even better teacher—for clients and for teachers in training.
Amy would also like to thank the team at Biomechanics Education for delivering a programme that is rigorous, accessible, and deeply relevant to the Pilates profession.
Why prerequisites matter: Level 3 Mat Pilates
One of the reasons Amy supports this programme is its clear entry standards. Biomechanics Education requires a Level 3 Mat Pilates qualification as a prerequisite—and for good reason.
A Level 3 qualification ensures that students enter the programme with:
- A working knowledge of anatomy and movement
- An understanding of cueing, observation, and teaching basics
- Experience applying concepts to real people, not just theory
This raises the standard of discussion in the room and, ultimately, improves teaching quality across the UK fitness and Pilates industry.
At Everybody Pilates, we offer Level 3 Mat Pilates training as part of our teacher training pathway, supporting teachers to build strong foundations before moving into more advanced study such as biomechanics.
